How the farms were run in the fifties
-

This harvester, was one of the machines that would help farmers collect their harvest quicker, if you compare it to when everything, had to be done by hand, by still there was a lot of work to run a farm the old ways.

How the farms were run then?

Dear readers, this post is the continuation of our last post, my farm life chapter, where we were about to explain about how farming was done the old ways. So, now let me explain how these small farms in southern Italy were run until the fifties, when things started to change a great deal, because of the new farming machine that were coming out, like the tractor and other machine that were very effective in replacing manual work; now, because these machines helped the farmers run their farms with less manual workers, the people that were employed in the farms had to find other jobs. Now, this is just one explanation, but let us describe how things were done then, to understand the whole situation and what was happening to us young would be farmers.

When I was young during the fifties, before these farming machines became affordable to the average small farmers, all the farmers used to have mixed farming, because it was necessary to have mixed farming then for many reason, today mixed farming is practiced to a much less extend, and I will try to explain the reasons, why this has happened. But to make it clear to you dear reader, I should describe the different way of how the land was (had to be) used in the old days, and how it is (would be) used today: In the old days to till the soil people used to do it all by hand, just like what we still do today in our own small home gardens, so, they would dig the soil in very small plots with a hoe, or something like that. But on normal fields in the farms the soil was tilled by ploughing the fields with horse power, or other strong animals. Therefore, there was a need for a lot of people to be fed to work the fields, and there were a lot of animals also to be fed to work the fields.

So, this need to feed so many mouths required a lot of produce, and also a variety of produce, for this reason mixed farming was required, because it was the only way to produce all this variety of foods that were required, in order to feed the animals and for other reasons as well, in the old days for this reason and also for other reasons as well, the sowing fields had to be divided into a three-year-rotation, not only to achieve these variety of foods, but it was also necessary to rotate the fields then, in order to keep them producing, otherwise the soil would become tired and produce very little, in other words if we would continue to use the fields every year they would produce next to nothing and therefore it was not worth working them, for this reason, our forbear had devised this three year rotation, which worked thus;

One year a field would be fallow land, so, it would not be used at all, or used very little growing broad beans or something like that, then the next year it would be sown with durum wheat, and the year after that the same field would be sown with oats or barley, or other light seeds, and the year after that to fallow land again. So, in realty there was only one third of the land producing durum wheat each year, which was the produce that brought in money to the farmers.

When I was young, a lot of people used to work in those farms, as I have said already, and it was hard physical work, specially at certain times of the year, and there was no much money to be made, with the exception of every now and then when we had a really good wheat harvest; but when the harvest was lean everybody would suffer, and all one could do, was to start all over again for another year, and so, one would be hoping and perhaps praying God for a better harvest next year, yes in those times people were a lot more religious than today, so, they believed in God and prayed God, and all the saints that they could think of, hoping that they could or would help them produce good harvests.

Anyhow, there were too many years of lean harvest when I was young, some average and only a very few years we had good harvests. But somehow people kept going on, and they were so used to poverty that they accepted it and seemed to be happy just the same, because they did not know of a better life. But one should keep in mind that the main harvest is only once a year, and one year is a very long time, when there is not enough money to go around, even to buy those things that were really necessary to live a modest life.

For all the work that I did in the farm in my youth, I earned almost nothing, but I was able to eat plain wholesome food, and buy a few cheap cloths to keep warm in winter, which sounds very bad these days, but then when there was nothing better that one could do, even this hard and unpleasant way of life would have to do, as long as one could live a healthy life; perhaps living a healthy life was the only thing that we could achieve easily then, because the air was healthier in the country, the life was very boring but at the same time it was not mentally stressful, compared to living in towns these days, and if there was any complain about a stench that came from the farm animals, it was something that would not harm anybody, it is only natural that all animals smell of something, we smell also of something even if we don’t notice it.

A youth in the farm, I guess with his father, dreaming his own dreams, the picture says more land, this could also have been my dream, if I had more land, I could have stayed in the farm all my life. But in Italy, there are lots of small farms, so, land is pricy and hard to buy, for this reason, I had to leave farming.

Dear readers, this post is the continuation of our last post, farm life can be very hard, and it is a chapter of my farm life experience and views, so, here again I am going to lament about my early childhood life in the farm, which has been one of those facts of life, that to most of us could happen during our life, so, whatever I am telling you here is the story of my life and nothing else. Now we can also say, that no matter how negative a story could be, and there are plenty of negative in my life story, there must be also some positive things that would happen, and those experiences could be used from us later in life, when we can; therefore, let me tell you this other chapter of my life story, the way that I have lived it, and how I see it now.

I believe that to give you a better picture overall, of what life was like in the farms of my native town of Genzano di Lucania, when I was young, I need also to tell you about many other things as well, and the town itself, then the ways of how people used to live in those times, what was happening at the time when I was young. So, let me talk about the town and the population first.

From my memory, I believe that the town of Genzano di Lucania, early in the twentieth century had reached a population of about 7,000 inhabitants, in the forties when I was young the population had grown to about 8,000 and reached 8,389 in 1951 inhabitants, and this is the highest number of people on record that I know of. Even though some people believe that there were near 10,000 people living in Genzano, but I am not sure about that.

Anyhow, today the number of people that used to live in Genzano does not matter anymore, as we don’t attach much importance to this issue. However, let us tell you about it; in the seventies, it had shrunk to only 5,500 inhabitants or there about. The reasons for this population shrinkage, it was because lots of people had to emigrate somewhere in those times. The reasons why they had to emigrate will be fully understood, when I explain what happened to the rural community of this town including myself. Today while I am writing this article the first time, the town of Genzano has 6200 inhabitants or there about.

My native town of Genzano is known as Genzano di Lucania to distinguish it from another Italian town Genzano di Roma. Anyhow this Genzano di Lucania these days has a territory of about 21,000 Hectares of land, if I remember right, and about 80% of this land is arable land, and it is mostly used to grow wheat, especially durum wheat; the rest of the land is used to grow grapes vines or olive trees and other farm produce, and there are also reserves or grazing land; as anyone can see from what I have said here, this town owes its wealth to the rural community that produces wheat, because this town is well known to produce lots of very high quality durum wheat, which the mills that make pasta rush to buy it, when it’s harvest time. Now even if the mills rush to buy this durum wheat, the price of wheat is not high, so, the farmers make only enough money to keep going and one should think that it takes one year to produce and harvest a crop of wheat, so, it is not that good for the farmers; there are also other things that must be taken into consideration, as I will continue to explain while I am writing my life story.

Anyhow, as I have already mentioned above, there are lots of other produce from the farms, because we used to have mixed farming, but these products are used locally, and if some of them are sold out of the town, they are not a great deal to make any difference, to how wealthy this town is, and if wealth may make much difference. But let us see, how everything was set up then, because, this may make some difference, to see if it is good or not that good to be there.

At the time when I was young, there were lots of small farms in Genzano, and although the most important and the largest crop that brought in the money was durum wheat, in reality they had to practice mixed farming for their own needs, this practice was a must to do, but it would cut down on the amount of land that would produce durum wheat, anyhow, I will try to explain how the farms were run at those times when I was young, in our next post, how the farms were run then.

Farm life can be very hard

Farms are very isolated places and to live in the farm is boring to say the least. Usually there is nobody you can talk to, so, life is very boring and lonely, this specially applies to the time when I was young, because then, there wasn't any electronic devises that we could use in the farms, even a radio was out of reach for us.

Dear readers, this post is the continuation of our last post, my farm life views. Where we were saying that farm life is a very hard life, but most people don’t appreciate the hard work that the farmers do, this attitude sometimes may even hurt the farmers, but they keep farming anyhow.

As we were saying above, people that live in the farms live a very hard and lonely life; in the past, farming was even harder than it is today, because today even the farmers have lots of machines that helps them farming, they are also a lot closer to the other communities than they used to be, because they can travel easily from their farms to town, they have their mobiles and other electronic devices, that could help them stay in touch with the rest of the world; anyhow, we have to think that wherever you are and whatever you do, life can be very hard sometime, when that happen we have to try to overcome those difficulties the best way we can.

Having this view in mind, and having lived a rather hard life myself, today I look at the world and wonder when I see these young people struggling, while they are really living in the middle of plenty, but then, I realize that they do not see it that way, so, they want you to believe that they are living a hard life, when in reality they are not, if we compare it to the ways of life in the old times. Therefore, I cannot help thinking that things in the world have changed a lot for the better, therefore I cast my mind back to the times when I was young, and then, I wonder what is wrong with the youths today, why they do not see all the good things around them, and are available to them. I know that some of them do, but a lot of them don't.

Having said that, now it would be good if we could compare today life to the days, like when I was young; So, let me tell you why life was harder when I was young, especially for those youths that like myself ended in a disadvantaged position, we had to work in the farms when we were very young: not only we were in a disadvantaged position, and working just to earn a small living that consisted of just plain but wholesome food and some clothing on our back. But what was hurting us most young would be farmers, it was the fact that we were not appreciated from the rest of the town community, only because we were not as good as the rest of the community with our communication skills, owing to the fact, that we were busy working and living an isolated life in the farm, where complex communication skills are not taught, because you don’t need them for farming, and also we did not ware flashy garments to show off, when we went to town and met the young town people, who seemed so clever well dressed and they knew everything that there was to be known.

The reason that I have been telling you all this, is that, it explains better how I felt then and how I feel even now, about my life in the farm in those days when I was young, and I hope that there is no misunderstanding that this was a hard and boring life, I am writing this article today, because I would like to point out to you, that my life experience in the farm of those days, has a very clear meaning to anybody that happens to read my life story, even if it is only a plain and boring life story that I am able to tell you here.

But I believe that there is also another side of this life story, because what I have just said makes me reflect about what the elders of my time were telling me, which was in effect that life was much harder when they were young. This attitude of those elders makes me think and ask myself. Is this the ways that life looks like when we get old? Or it is indeed that the way of life is changing for the better today, I wonder? Anyhow, I will continue to tell you my life story here under dear readers, and you can decide for yourself, and also when you read my next few hubs, where I will continue to talk about my farm life experience.

Let me tell you my farm life

Dear readers, let me continue to tell you my farm life experience; perhaps you remember that in one of our hubs called, The heritage story, we have written again about the town that I came from, and some of the ways of life of those times including my own life, so, now I would like to go back and continue to tell you, about my own life again that I lived in this town, starting from the very beginning, well not really from the very beginning, because I have already told you part of my life story in the hubs: An old man life story; a man life journey; My life my struggles; an old man story; My farm life experience; Simple man life observation and then more hubs about Genzano the town I came from.

Therefore, now I am going back to tell you my life story, starting from the time when I had to leave school and go to help in the farm; I was about eleven years old, when I went to work in the farm. Today you may find that at that age one is just too young to do any work, but in those times, that was the way that most people accepted as being normal. I know that for me it was unfortunate, just because I and a few other young men were going to be the last of this old way of life in the farms, because since then things have changed a lot and life for young people now is better, since for a start they don’t start working as young as we did then; because soon after I started to work in the farm, laws were passed from the government of those days, that is was compulsory to go to school until youths were 14 years old, therefore, I and a few others were the last youths that started to work so early in life. For this reason, it is going to be hard to compare anything, because things have changed, that is if we want to really compare anything that we do today with those times.

But just to say one thing or two; can you just imagine a youth today that has just turned eleven or twelve or even thirteen or fourteen, who is supposed to work, and to feed and look after the farms animals in winter time as we did, when they are in the stable because outside is very cold. You must go out to bring in straw and hay to feed those animals, even when it is very cold, and then you should take them to the well to water them, you have also to groom them and clean the stable every day, it is a very boring job to say the least. I am sure that today youths would refuse to do it, just because there is no joy or pride for doing it. Of course, there are many other things that we did in the farms, but they are just as hard and boring, so, there is no point in telling them. I believe also that perhaps I have said enough to give you an idea of what life was like in the farms of those days.

So, now let me tell you more about my life.

Dear readers, here I would have liked to continue telling you my life story, just the way that I feel I should tell it, but I am having trouble with the computer, since the computer marks some of my writings as having duplicate content, as if I am coping the story from somewhere else; but really this is my life story, so I can tell the story of my life as many times as I want and the way I want to tell it, just because it is my own life story; some people may think that I might have copied my life story from somewhere else, but I can assure you that I have not and if it resembles somebody else story it is just a coincidence. And does this really matter?

You see, I have only one life to live, and if I want to be true to myself and the rest of the world, I should tell my life story just the way I have lived it, so, there are no ways that similarities can be completely avoided. So, let me start telling you, my farm life experience as I lived it, even if today I think that it has caused me problems again with the hub pages’ computer.

Anyhow in our future articles that I am going to write, I am also going to show you how I have made an effort to break away from all those negative and painful things that were holding me back in the past, just because I did live in the farms when I was very young, see our hub called, Hello my world.

The first real job that I did in the farm was to look after a small flock of sheep and a couple of goats. we had to take to flock of sheep in the fields, so that they would eat whatever there was left in the field.

Dear readers, today we are going back to write about my life story, I know that we have written several posts about what is happening today in the world, but since I have not been able to write a new article, we are going back to my life story.

So, this post is the continuation of our last post, breaking away from my farm life, which are all being part of ‘An old man life story, so, let me continue. Now, even though we have been talking about my farm life experience in our previous posts, at this point of time, I would have liked to go straight to the point again telling you all about my own personal life experience in the farm when I was very young, which is the most important experience during my whole young life, and which I ought to tell you as it was, because of the ways that it has affected me, if I want to make my point about my young life experience in the farm; since it is my first life experience in the real world, and therefore the most important one.

So, just to make my point here, I have to tell you that my first real job in the farm was, that I had to look after a small flock of sheep, I was about 11 years old at that time, so to be in charge of those animals was a big ask for a small boy even then, and when we look at the standard of life that we have today, it looks even worse, but somehow I did it anyhow, after that job I had to do many other things. All these things put together, I should tell you right away, that it has affected me for the rest of my life in a negative way, because I was placed in a disadvantaged position, right from the start of my young life, as I have already mentioned before.

Now, while I am writing and thinking about my younger life, at the same time, I cannot help to wonder, how the young people of today would react, if they find themselves in a disadvantaged position as I was then. So, I ask myself again and again, would today young People have enough positive thinking to overcome the hard life that would be thrown at them, or would they just keep protesting and run away from the problems ahead of them; as the young people usually do these days? But there is also something else, I have noted that today young people like only to get in touch with other people through their mobiles, they don’t like to talk to people face to face, and they avoid all sorts of problems if they can. Therefore, I wonder what they would have done, if they would end up in the same position as I was, as there were not many people around to talk to, and above all there wasn’t any devise that you could talk to or listen to it, like we have today, when we use the mobile phones, you see life was very different then.

Anyhow, during our lives I have learned, that life means to us whatever we want life to mean to us, and, different times may have different meanings for every one of us. Today I have concluded that even if we live a hard life, we need to be positive during our life, and that is what we have to do all the time, be positive if we can. We need to do that if we want to overcome our difficulties. My own life is a very commune good example, as you are going to see while you read these articles. You see, just because I have been positive during my whole life, even when things went the wrong way many times, but I just kept going on the best way I could, because that was the only thing that I could do at that time. The reality of life is that we are forced to do whatever life throws at us, so, we better do it without upsetting ourselves too much.

We must believe that from our drawbacks we can always learn something positive, and if these positive thoughts are added up, one can find a way to use them. You see, today in my old age I am even able to write these posts in blogger, in a language that is not my mother tongue, this might not be a great deal to some people, but it helps me to think that I am not that hopeless fellow that I was when I was young, because I have kept positive and tried to learn whenever I had the chance, I hope that you see what I mean?

Now that I have explained the position that I am in today, which one could say that it is a sharp contrast, to the ways I have been living when I was very young. Anyhow, today to continue to tell you my farm life story, I believe that I should describe to you first, what the farms were like in those days, and how the farmers used to run the farms in a traditional manner, at the time when I was young. And I want also to point out to you, the farmers and their workers were then, and are still today the most important contributors of the welfare of this rural town of Genzano di Lucania, you see, the rural communities wherever you go in the world, they are still those people that grow food for the rest of the other communities, therefore growing any sort of food will always be necessary, for these reasons the people that grow food are very important contributors, for the rest of the town community; this would also apply to our rural town of, Genzano di Lucania. But there seems to be a problem between the farmers and the town people, because the rest of the town communities, they don’t seem to recognize enough the farmer contributions, this attitude gives rise to some malcontent, and it makes life harder for the farming people. We all should know that farmers are hardworking simple people, that have no much time to think about frivolous things, just for the sake of showing off to other people, like most people of the rest of the community practice everywhere, and this is one of the problems between these communities, but the farmers knowing that they know only how to farm they keep on farming.

I believe that computers are very useful devices, we can do a lot of things with computers, today there are many sorts of computers on the market. Some of which have been designated to do specific things. All computers needs to be programed to do certain things. So, we need specific programs to do specific things. The most popular computers are those computers that are programed to go on the Internet, and to be used in an office to write and to work out sums. There are programs designated to do that, but they cost money to install and use them. Sometimes we have problems with computers, they are jus like everything else, but they are too useful, so, we are stuck with them.

Dear readers, today because of a few things that have happened to me, I am writing this post about Cyber programs, because I am having problems with them and they are costing me money. Because this is an issue that needs to be fixed, from the people in charge of those programs, I am going to post my article, in every forum that I can, in the hope that it will be noted from those people that can do something about it, this is the reason why, I am posting this post here today.

I believe that, if you must complain about things that happen on computers and on line, then the best place to complain is on line, because those are the people that could understand you. Also, they are the only people that could fix the problem you are having. This is what I am doing just now, with this article.

Dear readers, what I am writing in this post today, should interest everybody that uses a computer and goes online, because to go on line costs money. So, please read this post fully, and if you feel that you have been ripped off, from these cyber programs like I do. Please do your part and complain about it, just as I am going to complain in this article. I believe that it might help, if we do that together. Because some of the people that control these programs we need, they might read our complaints and do something about it.

But first let me say what I think about computers. I believe that the computer is one of the greatest devices invented by mankind, we should look at what they can do for us to convince ourselves, but they come at a cost, which sometimes we believe is more than what we thought it should cost us, so, we should look for ways how to keep these costs to a minimum. Yes, we should look for way to keep cost to a minimum, but that is not easy to do, as you are going to see for yourself, once you read this article, because of the several problems that we might encounter, to run our computers.

In my opinion, I believe that the computer is still a new devise, that we are slowly learning how to use it properly, for this reason we make mistake and these mistakes may cost us money, like I am experiencing right now, and most of us that use computers have experienced it, when we are using computers. However, they are very useful, as you would see from the following example:

You see, I have posted this link above, to prove the usefulness of the computers, since from that link, you can visit other place on line easily. 

I hope that these issues that we are talking about here will improve with time, and to run a computer will be a lot cheaper and easier in the future. I am basing this hope from this personal observation; about the motorcars. You see, fifty years ago, if you had a car you would have experienced several mechanical breakdowns, that would cost money to fix them; but today cars are more reliable and they rarely breakdown, they are also a lot easier to use. So, I hope that this could happen also with the computers. Therefore, I believe that computers will be cheaper and more reliable in the future. Having said that, now let me go back to talk about my complaints that I have today.

Computer cyber programs rip off

You see, today I am going out of my way to complain about this issue. So, instead of writing about the refugees’ problems, as I have said in my previous article. I am going to complain about the computers cyber programs rip off, because I feel that I am being ripped off in many ways. I believe that most of us that use the computer are exposed to these risks, because soon or later we need to buy some software programs, for the computer to function properly.

Now, let me explain the situation. I believe that most of us would be glad to pay for those software programs that we believe we need. But what about those software programs that we don’t need, but slowly they have found their way in our computer, because they have popped up so many times on our monitor, advertising themselves as being useful for this and that, just to check them out we have looked at them and sometimes intentionally and at other times unintentionally these software’s have been downloaded to your computer.

Once that is done, we become aware that these software programs are not what we need, they are not free, as they made us believe at the beginning, and they would be costing us a lot more than what we thought, they could cost. So, we think that it would be better to delete them, before we pay. But, that cannot be done, because we cannot find a way to delete them, the more we look for ways to delete them, the more we are advised to add other things to it, that would cost us even more. In the end, they are so insisting and aggressive that somehow, we press the wrong key and they get paid.

Anyhow, we have tried our best and we have failed to save our money, so, we think that this is just one payment that we better forget about it, or perhaps try to resolve it somehow later, which could never happen, because you could not and would not find the way how to unsubscribe from these software programs. I believe that these programs have been made, in a way that they continually advertise themselves, as being useful, when we may not need them at all. So, we would like to unsubscribe, but as I said, when you look to unsubscribe, instead of finding how you could unsubscribe, they continue to tell us how good they are and the link to unsubscribe never come up. So, I wish that there was an easier way, how to unsubscribe from them, which I am going to suggest in this article, because I don’t like to be stuck with them, but there is even more bad news, as I will explain my situation here-under.

My situation with the cyber programs

Dear readers, what I am writing here, it is my personal situation, but if you think about it, this same situation could apply to any of us, when we use any software, on any device that needs software to function. Anyhow, today I am in a stressful situation, because I don’t want to pay for programs I believe I didn’t order and I don’t need. Now, because on the Internet, I could not find a way how to have my money back myself, from charges to my account incurred for programs that I wanted to unsubscribe since the beginning; I have gone to my financial institution and applied to have my money back. Just because I did that, now I cannot use my pay pal account for a while, since they register this as if somebody is using my pay pal account.

But the only people that are using my pay pal account are the greed merchants, which want me to buy their software every year, they don’t give me the chance to unsubscribe easily, because it is convenient for them, so, they are charging me for software I don’t want and don’t need, and sometimes even several time a year, I am paying for the same software. I know this sounds very unusual but this is what is happening to me. But how did all this misunderstanding situation occur one may ask? So, let me explain the way I see it.

In my case, this situation occurs, because there are times when I have been charged up to three times a year for the same program, as you know we need more than one software program to run a computer, so, there are times when this is very frustrating, of course, this situation to some of you might seem absurd, but this is what has happened to me several times already. So, I had to do something about it, and I did as I have said above, with some unforeseen consequences.

Now, before I say anything else, I must point out to you that today I have only one desk computer at my place. A couple of years ago, I had a laptop for a short time, but then I took it back to the shop, because there were too many problems with it. So, now I use only my desktop, which sometimes it plays up. There have been times when I had to restore it to make it work, but the restore points in this computer don’t work properly, so, sometimes I am forced to restore it to factory settings. When I do that, all programs are wiped out, so, I need to reinstall them back one by one, but that is not the only problem, the major problem here is that sometimes it is hard to make accept the old programs that I have already paid for to the computer. This is very likely the greatest problem, as I will try to explain here-under.

My cyber problems and my solution

So, as I have said above, I have many problems to solve with running my computer, here I would like to describe the rest of them and then suggest a solution, hoping that those people in charge come across what I have written and would do something about it, to make it easier for all of us that use computers.

Anyhow, let me start to point out again that today I have only ONE desktop computer, that I am using. But I believe that, because a couple of years ago, I bought an Acer laptop, but it was no good, so, after a couple of months, I took it back to the store for a refund. Anyhow, I think that while I had this Acer laptop, I have installed some software that even today I am being charged again and again, while this computer does not exist, and therefore, I cannot use them, because this computer does not exist, I cannot delete them either for the same reason.

But that is only one way to explain what is happening, but there is more to explain, because when I am forced to restore back to factory setting, when I reset the computer, it might be registered as if it is new computer, when in fact it is the same old computer, I try to reinstall the old software that I have already paid for, using those keys and number as I understand them, but sometime it does not work, so, I might end up to pay again for something that I had already. Anyhow, it is all a mess that costs me more money that normally it would cost, because I am paying for software programs that are installed on computers that do not exist. I hope I have explained it clear enough for people to understand my situation.

So, having explained the problems that I have with my computer, about the software programs that I am paying several times for the same thing, I wish that every time a software becomes due for renewal:

Those merchants that sell these software’s, would not just send me a reminder email telling me to pay; But, they should send me an email where I have a choice, and asks clearly whether I would like to renew my subscription, or unsubscribe from it, with links that would take effect immediately, once you have made your choice.

I believe that my suggestion, not only could solve most of my problems about paying for computer software that I don’t need, but it would also solve other people that have similar problems with computer software.

What I am asking above is only fair, after all, it is so hard to unsubscribe from anything, unless you can find that first email, when you subscribed the first time, or you are an expert about computers. I hope I have explained myself clearly and that somebody would take my suggestion earnestly.

This is all that I want to say today, while I am waiting for pay pal to reopen my account fully, so, I don’t have any more restrictions on it, and I can pay my software when they are due, because today I have already Microsoft Office overdue and I need that program on this computer.

Here we are discussing some of the refugees problems, and ask ourselves what could be done about it. Of course, we find hard to understand the several reasons, why this happens. But we know that we have to try to understand the reasons, because only then we might be able to work out a solution.

What could be done we may ask?

Dear readers, this post is the continuation of our last post, where refugees come from, where we were trying to know what could be done about it. We believe that no one knows what is the best way to handle this refugees problem, the Italian authorities try hard to do their best. For a start, they go to help those refugees that their boats are in danger of sinking, or have already sung and try to rescue the refugees from the Mediterranean Sea. I know that, because I follow the Italian news on SBS, I know that there are too many days, when over a thousand refugees land in Italy, and that is just too many of them for the Italian authorities to handle properly, but they do their best. You see, Italy is not a big country and have already got their own problems with the earthquake refugees, that have been displaced as their houses have been destroyed from the earthquake, so, all these extra refugees put a strain on the authorities and the Italian economy.

Looking at all these problems that these foreign refugees cause, to the country they go to live in, we should start thinking if there is another way to solve this worldwide problem, but so far, nobody has come up with a good suggestion that could solve the refuges problem. Some people say that on humanitarian grounds, we should help these refugees, because they are human beings like us, so, I believe that we should help them. But when these same people that have been saved from drowning, they turn around and do nasty things to the native people in the country they are living, we should start to wonder if we are doing the right thing when we have saved them from drowning.

Because of all these nasty things that happen every now and then, and because there are also some terrorist elements in these said refugees. As we all know the many terrorist attacks that have happened in the last few years. Some leaders in the western world say that we should ban those people that are trouble makers. So, instead or running out to help them and bring them in your own country, we should try to stop them, at our own boundary. Like what President trump wants to do, he wants to erect a wall at the boundary between Mexico and USA. And, ban some people that come from countries that condones terrorist, to come to America.

Here I should say that perhaps President Donald Trump has got it right, just because he wants to stop the refugees, or at least slow down the refugees coming in thousands, when nobody has invited them to come. Of course, on humanitarian grounds we should think that they are people in need, so, they should be helped, but this does not mean that they should be helped, before we help our own people in need of help. This is the question that we should ask ourselves. And then try to find an answer to that, so, we should investigate, if there are ways that would bring a better outcome.

Looking for anything that could help

The world today should look at this refugees problem more closely, so, not only they should try to help the refugees on humanitarian grounds, but they should make a greater effort to see if there are things that could be done in the countries of origin of the refugees, so that there will be less refugees in the world. In other words, we should investigate all the reasons why people become refugees, and then, do anything possible to fix the problems, which makes these people become refugees. I suppose that in the past we have already tried this in various parts of the world, but we have had a limited success.

In my own personal views, I believe that the world should not give up, looking for the reasons why these people become refugees, in the first place. Because there could be something that could be done, we should be looking at the reasons why these people become refugees, then try to fix those things that make people leave their own native land.

We need to fix these problems at the source, because tomorrow they might spread even more, and then, it will be harder to fix them. You see, today the refugees are already causing many problems in the western world, which could easily grow to unforeseen problems, which we intend to point out, in our next post, since this post would become too long, if we talk about it now.
