My life my struggles

Dear readers, here we continue to tell you my life story, so, you are all invited to browse this post if you like, and then perhaps you might compare my life struggles that I am telling you here, with somebody else life struggles, or with your own struggles, if you feel that you are struggling during your life and you want company, but try to do all this with a smile if you can, even if you would be feeling a bit run down sometimes. So, let me start to tell you about my life struggle.

This life story that we are telling you here, it is going to be just another article of a simple man life journey, that is being told from the old man himself and that old man is me. So, let me tell you about my own life journey, allow me to start with the memories of my life, whether these life memories are happy happenings or sad ones, today they might not make much difference, since they have happened in the past.  So, let me talk about the struggles of my life, since life may be said that is a beautiful struggle; (You see, we need to think that life is a beautiful struggle, even when there are times when it hurts, because that is the only way to enjoy life) I am saying all this because I feel that I have been struggling all my life long, in fact I feel that I am even struggling just now, while I am writing my life memories, so, let us talk about my life struggles

My beautiful life struggle

Dear readers let me tell you that these are the struggles of life of an ordinary and partly educated man, who had to struggle his own ways in his entire life, because this might have been his destiny, and even now he is struggling in order to live his life in full; one could or would describe him as a born struggler, who kept battling on during his whole life so to speak and continues to struggle even now.

So, as it often happens to the best of us, sometimes he won his battles and sometimes he lost them. And although when he had a tough battle a scar or mark was left on him for life, he never thought to surrender to the adverse elements that life brought to him; but he kept battling on his whole life from his very tender age onward. And no matter how hard it became for himself he kept struggling on, so that he would conquer those negative elements which sometimes make life miserable, as we all may know from our own life experiences.
He had to do it all by himself because; there is no other way that a person can live his own life, but one has got to keep fighting on and never give up, no matter how hard it might become during one’s own life, starting from the very beginning when we are born.
And this is the subject that I’d like to be talking to you just now, which is going to be never the less the very same story of my life, as I have already mentioned before.
So looking at what life usually bring us I have to say that, it seems to me that we are born to struggle, in order to find our own way in life, as there seems to be no other ways available to us and we have to look after ourselves the best way we can.

But here I would also like to point out to you, that there are lots of people throughout the world nowadays, who believe that we are born to suffer, as if suffering is necessary for living our lives in full. But I would not and could not agree with them at all on this suffering part, because I don’t believe for a single moment that we are born to suffer. The reasoning is that if we believe that we are born to suffer, then, when something goes wrong that would make me suffer, I would have to accept suffering as it was, and I would do nothing at all to improve my situation. To me this situation would be absurd, and therefore, I prefer to believe that it should always be possible to do something to improve my situation, even if is going to make me struggle hard for a long time.
So now, let us stop to think about what we have just said above, because we would like to discuss a bit more, about this subject of struggling or suffering. Since we would like to convince you including ourselves, that what we believe about our life suffering would be correct; so, we hope you don’t mind following what we have in mind to say now; which is that we would like to explain a bit more, what we have said about struggling and suffering for comparison sake.

So, let us talk about this comparison of struggling or suffering, just to see if what we have said above would make sense to us. So, let us make a general observation here; we have to say that generally speaking for a start, any parents would wish from the bottom of their hearts that their children will have an easy and happy life to live.
And if we were to ask any parent, or would be future parents: if they would like to have any children at all, knowing in advance that their children would have to suffer during their life time, we are sure that they would never agree to have children under such conditions. You see, there is no point to have children, if they have to suffer: We would like to have children only if they can live their life better than our own lives, or at least equal to our ways of life.
Having said that now we would like to explore the reasons why people think that we are born to suffer; we have to say that we don’t know exactly how and why, this belief that we are born to suffer came about, even though we see the reasons why we usually have to struggle during our lives, but let us try also to explain the suffering part that some people believe in.

We have reasons to believe, that this suffering beliefs could be part of some religious beliefs or cults, because for religious leaders telling people that life could be a struggle was not enough for them. Because usually they would like to control us somehow, and to do that they would try to scare us somehow, so that, we would do what we have been told to do. We are saying this because it is a well-known fact that religious people have had some influence in these suffering beliefs, you see, for a long time they have preached and believed that the flesh had to suffer, and only through suffering the soul would become holy in the eyes of God. Here we would like to ask this; is it necessary that the body should suffer, in order for the soul to become worthy in the eyes of God? Personally, speaking I don’t see the need for the body to suffer, so religious people have a mistaken view about this suffering of the body, having said that, now I believe that we need to explain better, what would be better to believe, so, let us talk about it in our next post.

The story of my life

Dear readers, this is the continuation of our last post, a man life journey. So, now let me start telling you my life story. I was born in the late thirties that means that, I was born before World War 2, 1939- 1945, I was born in a rural town of southern Italy, as I have already mentioned at the beginning of this article, my family had a small farm and owned some farm land around the farm, but this farm land that we owned was not enough to earn a living, so we (my family) would also work the land of large land owners who would let us use their land for a price that had to be paid usually with an agreed amount of produce each year; to some of our readers this way of doing things in the past might seem strange, but, that was normal practice in those days.

Perhaps I need to write this observation here, to understand better the situation about us small farmers, without going in too many details about the past, one should think that in the past the entire countryside would usually belong to the landlord that the rulers of the day gave the right to run that part of the country, so even when I was young some of these ways of living existed. Since, the rich landowners had replaced the government landlord or master of that portion of the countryside, anyhow, they would let use their land for an agreed price, which usually was paid with produce from the land.

Anyhow, since we are talking about the old ways and how these things were done, and talking about the landlords or the masters of the castles that they used to run the countryside. I cannot help  saying that there in Genzano is this castle of Monteserico and I remember that from my family farm I could see this castle far away every day of my life, of course there is also a history about this Monteserico castle, I have written about that in this hub, The castle of, as this castle of Monteserico has plenty of history of its own, by let me go back to my life story.

Anyhow, in order to understand how things were done then in the farms, and here I am talking about before and also during World war 2, I need to tell you this; to earn a living in those days was very hard, it was much harder than today, not only for us farmers who were then thought to be in a better position of the rest of the town community, because we were producing something useful for the rest of the community especially in war time when food was hard to come by, we could always find something to eat from the fields, so the rest of the town were influenced by us farmers, so, if we were doing well the rest of the town would be doing well too, I believe that here I could add this observation to make you see what I mean; in the simple life of those times, the most important thing that people would aim for was to be able to eat wholesome and simple food every day, if you were able to do that then you were doing well, I hope I have made my point here, there were no luxurious food or things to be had, accept a few times each year, at Christmas and other important events.

Now I need to point out that there was no much money going around in those days and a lot of times we had to exchange produce or things to make ends meet. So, let me tell you a couple of examples how things were done in those days; for example if it happened that we needed a blacksmith to sharpen the tools during the year to work the fields, we would pay the blacksmith with an agreed amount of wheat, since wheat was our main crop and also most people needed wheat to make their own bread during the year; you see in those times, if you had wheat you could take it to the mill to make flour and then make your own bread; therefore by paying work done by wheat was convenient, as it was a two ways solution. It also was done like that because there was no much money around then; you see, even the barbers used to be paid in wheat or some other produce from the farmers. Of course there was some money to do other general smaller services or things, but all those services that would take a long time usually for years were done by these agreements of so much work in exchange of so much produce. Sometimes even small things could be bought by exchanging some produce with some other things.

I know dear readers that what I have said might seem ridiculous today, but this is how life was in those old days. So, I wonder how you the younger generation would feel to live in the old days that I have described above, and be a farmer’s youth working in the farm from a very tender age as I did. Here I would like to call on you my readers to compare what I have said above to today living and let me know if you feel like making a comment. I just wonder how you would feel like to be in a lonely place as I was, where there was not a single electronic device to play with or just listen to; I just wonder how you would feel like and what you would do, if you were in my place.

I am saying this because today when I look at the young people most of them walk about with a mobile talking to their friends, or listening to music, or doing whatever they can do with their mobile, the difference in life style is so great that it is hard to believe that so many electronic devises have come out in the last fifty years or so, and they have changed our life style and we are better off today; therefore, I have to ask myself, what the youths of today could have done in my place? But anyhow let us continue to tell you the story of my life.

Some personal writing concerns

Dear readers, while I am trying to write my life story, I have become concerned how to set it up properly, because I believe that I have missed to mention this small part of my life; as you might know most Italians are religious and most of them are Roman Catholic and so was also my family including myself, so I was born and baptized in a Roman Catholic Church just like everybody else in town of Genzano di Lucania, and this is how my life stared. I know that this is only the start of my life that I have told you in this post and I have a lot more to say, but unfortunately sometimes I am not allowed because of duplicate content when I write this articles in hub pages, just like what is following here under, that is why I am concerned.

At this point of time I have become concerned that I am not going to be able to write my life story the way that I would have liked to write it, so let me explain the reasons why and the way that I feel. Now, because this post is being partly taken from my articles that I have written in hub pages, I am also reporting here the problems that I had there. Anyhow, this hub is supposed to be mainly about my own life story, therefore, I would have liked to go back to talk about myself and my position in my family and those things that happen when one is born or just a toddler; but unfortunately, again some of my life stories have been already published in blogger, therefore I cannot repeat them here because it will become duplicate content. When I was a child, old people were so good at telling stories. They had to learn of to tell a story to their children, so that, they would be quiet while listening to the story their parents or grandmas, were telling them. Parents needed that skill, since their were not any public entertainment, in those days.

Dear readers, this post in a way is the continuation of our last post called; the other human duty’; having done that now let me welcome you to this post called a man life journey; ‘a man life journey’ is going to be the continuation of the story of my life. So, you are all invited to read our post about the story of my life.

We believe that we can tell you our life story, and we will tell our life story, because every one of us has a story to tell about our own life, we are not the only one to say that as you know, because there are people that are doing this very same thing; so, we hope that our life story would be interesting enough for our readers, even if it is only a simple life story. You see, even very simple life stories sometimes could be interesting enough to hear, because they have their own merits, even if it is a simple life story, just like my life story that I am writing here. Now, just to prove that I am not the only one, telling my own life story, here are a couple of links that I have found on the Internet to check out and see, what other people think about this life story issues;

But, I have to tell you that I am not a scholar or a trained writer, therefore, here I may have some writing concerns about writing my story, because, as we have said already we are writing our own life story, now, because real life stories are usually boring, we hope that somehow we would be able to interest you without boring you too much, because I don’t want to embellish my life story at all if possible, as I am going to write my own life story just the way that I have lived it starting from when I was very young. Therefore, I hope that I would be able to write my life story clear enough for my readers to understand it easily, you see, today there is a great difference in life style, therefore it would be easy to misunderstand the situation, for this reason we need a good description that is able to highlight the difference between the life styles, of how life was then in those old times and how life is now; here I should add that this is very important to note for comparison sake, because this is one of the reason why I am writing my life story, since one would like to note between today life style and the old time life style, anyhow let us start telling you what we are going to tell you in my real life story.

Now, as I have said, I am writing about my life story; so, in order to keep my life story in a chronological order somehow I have to start from the time when I was born, which will be written in this same article here-under, under the subtitle name, the story of my life; but at this point of time, let us talk about how I plan to write my entire life story; you see, at this point of time I plan to write my life story in two parts, one part is going to be mainly about my young life, starting from when I was born, followed by my young life in our family farm in Southern Italy and all those things that were happening in those times in the farm and also in my native town of Genzano di Lucania, which is the town where I was born and our family farm was, of course as we go on telling you everything we can, I am also going to tell you the story or some of the history of my native town, because history of the place where one is born is also important to know; the second part is going to be about my life story in Australia, since I migrated to Australia in my early twenties, and I have lived in Australia ever since.

This second part of my life story will be dealing with lots of things and it will include several articles about buildings, like how DIY brickwork, masonry etc. Since I ended up working in the building industry in Brisbane Australia, while at the same time, I will be also telling you the great differences in buildings that I found between the old continent and Australia for a start; and then I will describe how many different building things were done in those times when I came to Australia and perhaps how these same things have progressed and how I progressed and became a bricklayer during the time that I have been working in Australia, and I have been working as a bricklayer most of my life; and when I was not bricklaying I was doing some other building work as well.

Anyhow, these things that I have mentioned above are the things that I would like to write about in my life story, and now, let us go back and start telling you my life story from the beginning.

Beginning my life story

Anyhow, let us start from the beginning to tell my life story, you see, this is the story of a simple man life journey, and I would like to point out that this article, it is only the beginning of an old man life story and there will be several articles written about this story; for this reason, I am asking myself which is the best way to write my life story, so that I could interest you my readers to take a trip in the past with me, in the hope that I would be able to show you something that could interest you and you would accompany me happily in my life story journey.

You see, I would like to tell you my own life story for many reasons; because today I could say that I have reached a certain age that makes me an old man, so I wonder what could I show to my readers about my own life story that would make my life story interesting enough for them to read. Of course I could tell you easily about what my life is like today, which I can say that is not that exciting at all, because of some unfortunate happenings and illness in the family that seems to worry me so much these days. You see, to tell you the truth I am sorry to say that I happen to live with family members that are sick and require lots of attention, because this is not what you readers would like to hear, since telling sad story would only bring sadness to who hears the story; so, it would be better to go back to tell you my life story from the beginning just as it happened in the past with some happy and some not so happy happenings, I suppose it might be better for everybody, if I tell my life story this way.

Now, even though in my life story I have to say that I was struggling most times during my early life, so, it might not be a very happy story to hear for entertainment sake, at the same time I hope that my whole life story could or would be more interesting to hear, if the story that I am going to tell you now has already happened in the past, because even if there are sad stories being told, since they are passed already, they would not seem so sad anymore and they could be easily compared to today’s living to make the story more interesting anyhow; you see, this is what us old people do most of the time, we would like to compare today’s way of life to the ways that we have lived our own life.

Therefore, dear readers, while you are reading my life story try to compare the ways of living of those by gone days with the ways that we are living our lives today, because this would be one of the reasons why I am writing my life story; you see today when I see things done from the younger generation that do not agree with my own views, sometimes I would like to tell them the ways that those things were done when I was young, therefore, I would start by saying; when I was young these things were not done this way and keep telling them what we did then. I hope you see what I mean. But now, let me start telling you the story of my life, as much as I can in a chronological way wherever I could.

I believe that this post is becoming too long, for the average readers of today, as they don’t like to spend too much time in one place. So, we will continue our life story next time with, the story of my life.

Just about anything could be our human duty, it all depends most times from the circumstances that we happen to be in.
For instance, this man in the photo is entertaining some children, and this is one of the duties of the older generation, they should look after the younger generation, in many ways including many happy things if they can. Because people that have a happy childhood, are usually better people during their lives.

As you know, we have written above an idealistic duty of any human being, but there is another duty that everybody should follow and everybody should know what it is, because it is very simple; “do not do to others, what you would hate if anybody does it to you”. Anyhow, apart from what has been said above, here we would like to continue and become more personal and talk about ourselves, as we live our live presently.

We human beings that pride ourselves to be at the top of all living being on earth, we should ask ourselves what is our duty during our lives, in order to do the right things and be proud of ourselves, just because we have done what is right; we believe that on earth we are like gods’ and can do anything we like, so, we are able to dominate all other living species, but what about our own specie; are we doing the right thing to other fellow man one may ask?

The answer to that question is hard to explain, because there are so many wrong things that we still do in this world. You see, we would like to believe and behave like gods’, but really to be like god one needs to behave like God and do certain duties that would be worth of being called a good and benevolent god and that is a hard thing to do; anyhow we don’t claim to be gods, just because we believe that there is a spiritual God that is very powerful and is the master of heaven and earth, so we can never claim to be that powerful, at least we understand that; for this reason we give up the idea of being gods; but let us see what our duty would be, if we want to be at the top of every living thing and feel that we have done our duty as well.

We believe that in order for mankind to stay at the top of everything and work in a positive way, a man should do his duty willingly; we believe that a man has got to do what a man has got to do, because this would be his life duty, anything that is detrimental to the rest of humanity and the living species should be avoided.

You see, we have this inborn wish within us that we would like to be seen as a great man if possible, or at least better than the average man that is beside us when we do our duty willingly; so let us talk about and see what our duty would be if we want to be seen and counted as a good and honest man, from the rest of the world community.

As we have said at the beginning, the duty of any man is two folds; the first duty is that a man has got to live his life honestly; by this we mean that he has got to try to live his life in a way that he would be able to earn his own living, he should work at whatever work he is able to do during his life and he should not try to steal anybody else money or belongings, he should pay his bills and his rent and anything else in time and be always punctual with his payment and his work duty. All these things might seem hard to achieve and some people might not agree with what is being said here; but in realty what we have said is easy to achieve, if you live a normal life and try to do it honestly.

We could say more about our duty, but I believe we have said enough to explain our point of view, because, this is the way that we should behave if we would like to be counted as a good man that has done his duty. This would be our first duty to our community and it covers the present time. The other idealistic duty that any of us could be called upon to fulfil, we have already talked about at the beginning of this article, but now let us go back to explain why our life learning should be passed on and other point of views.

As we have said at the beginning of this article, our duty as human beings is that we have to pass on what we have learned from life, for the betterment of future generations; now that we have said what the life duty of any man is, I have to start thinking what I could and should do to contribute to it; in order to achieve our own goal and do our own duty as a man and contribute our share, so that, we could improve what we have received from life and what we have learned during our own life, I believe that we need to make a record of our lives experience overall, and then perhaps we should try to see which way they could be used better.
In my case I believe that one of the best ways to achieve that is that I could write my own life story, in my life story I would try to say what the previous generation have taught me, and then, what I have learned myself during my life, and thus by writing my life story I would be passing on my knowledge for the benefit of future generations. You see, this is just another reason for writing, an old man life story as I intend to do already and then publish it in Hub Pages, I need also to write most of my life observation down and any other life experiences in such a way that they could be understood and would make sense to whosoever might read them.

In my life story I know already that some of my life happenings and observation would or could be felt a bit strange sometimes, especially those observations that have something to do with my psychological way of imaginary love life and other things of that nature, therefore I am warning my readers not to give too much weight to those observation whenever they come across and read them, if they don’t agree with them or they don’t understand them fully; you see, every one of us is different, so, we perceive those psychological things in a different way. I know also that some of my other life experiences and my life observations that I am going to write here or later on might seem a bit strange to some reader; but what can I do if life sometimes is a bit strange? I can do nothing about it, except to tell you the way it is and the way that I see it.

Anyhow, if I have to do my duty in order to improve what I have received from life, I am going to tell you my own life experiences to start with, even if they are going to be boring and seem strange at times, as I am sure that they are going to seem strange every now and then, so much so that one would think that they may be like a metamorphose. But, because a man has got to do what a man has got to do I am going and wanting to do it anyhow; so may God help me achieve that!

Anyhow now, let us go back to my resolve that I am/was going to write in my hub about, An old man life story, but then, at the same time I think that I might have said enough in this hub and therefore I will be starting to tell my story of an old man life story in my next hub that perhaps I could call, A man life journey, just because I need to give every hub a new name. As I was saying in our last post, the old ladies were telling us stories when we were kids; I apologize for not being able to tell you any of those stories that my mother and my grandmother were telling me, they were old fashioned good stories for us kids, since we kids would hear them many times and still we were interested in them, perhaps we were waiting for the heroes of the stories to do what they had to do to have their ways. Anyhow, today I have forgotten most of those stories, therefore I am not able to tell you any of them. But anyhow this is not the only reason why I am writing this article; because what I would like to write here in the future is this; I am going to tell you the story of my life. I know that now you are thinking, what is wrong with me why should I tell you the story of my whole life? Well it is just because I cannot tell you a fairy tale anymore, since today people don’t believe anymore in fairies or fairy tales, and really, I don’t remember most of the tales that I have been told when I was young, so I could not tell you much of a story; therefore, I am going to tell you the story of my life, because that is the only story that I know better than anybody else.

Now that I have decided to tell you my whole life story, starting with this hub called, (An old man life story), which is going to be also the name of my story writings, I have also to say that there are other issues that have prompt to write my life story, the main issues are written hereunder.

Firstly, I would like to tell you dear readers that I would like to write this story of to my life, in order to compare the ways of living between these days and the old time ways; since I believe that in order to tell a story and make sense to the listener or readers there should also be a purpose for it, so, if we try to compare this old life story to today ways of living, then it may make this story more interesting for everybody.

Having said that, now I wonder what it would be like if one could go back in time, just like in time travel fictions of today, how nowadays ways of living would have affected the older generations. You see, generally speaking in the old days normally time seemed to stand still and very little changes would happen, and if anything did happen it would happen very slowly, except when there were wars or some other violent happenings, like earthquake or diseases that could kill lots of people around; whereas today everything changes very fast even when there are no wars, earthquake or disease; therefore, what could be said that is brand new today, in a few days may be said to be old. I hope you see what I mean?

Secondly, I am going to tell you about why I feel that I have to write this story, and why I believe I have to write it. You see, I feel that every human being has a story to tell, and anyone of us could tell our own story if we attach enough importance to the story that we want to tell. So, to me it happens that I believe that by telling you my life story, not only I become satisfied that I have written my own life story, but I would also feel that I am doing humanity a good service, because something can be learned from my life story. I believe that it is the life duty of any man to try to improve anything at all, if one can; so, let me explain the way I feel about what could or would be the duty of any man here under.

Or perhaps we should call this the duty of any man

The duty of any human being may be divided in two folds; one of this duty is an idealistic duty about what a man should do for the betterment of humanity; the other duty is how a human being or man should behave during his life, in order to be viewed and thought to be of good character and everything else, which enhances the quality of life itself; because these two things is what distinguishes us from the animals’ world, and also from those do no good humans that want to rip off the rest of the human society for themselves.

Having said that, now let us start to talk about that idealistic duty that a man is supposed to do during his life, since we believe that it would be a good thing for all humanity, as the aim is to do something for the betterment of all humanity.

Therefore, let us start from the beginning of our own lives and use first of all our own lives observations to decide what is the duty of any human being. We have reasons to believe that when a man (or woman) is born, they receive their gift of life from God and/or Mother Nature or whatever one believes in there is that makes life possible on earth. Of course all this is would be achieved through and from their parents, who would be guided from their natural instinct to do what they have to do to bring on a new life, as we all know this is the only way for life to reproduce itself and continue indefinitely.
Now, for life to evolve and become better, it is important that we all do our best, so we should be very careful what we do during our lives; therefore, this gift of life that we have received from God, Mother Nature or whatever we believe our lives come from, we have to be very careful with it and we should endeavour to guard our lives dearly during our own lives, with all our inner will and physical strength, because our lives is a very special gift that we have received from God, if we believe in God, or from Mather Nature or whatever one believes in.

You see, there are reasons to believe that every one of us have our own ways of seeing this gift of life in different ways, but for those who believe in God have an extra special meaning, since God is the life giver of all existing life on earth. Therefore, the life duty of a man even in the eyes of God is that a man must try to live his own life well, or at least as good as his parents have done before him, and if he can he must try to improve the standard of life he has received. Now if there are any improvement that he has made during his life, they should be passed onto his children, so that the next coming generation that will come through him and from him will have a better standard of life that he has had during his life, since he has been able to improve that standard of life that he has received himself, so let any man come forward and say what he has to say about his beliefs or improvements that he could contribute to humanity.

Now that I have described above what I think the life duty of any man could or would be, and of course believing every word that I have said above, there could be no way that I could or would avoid to do my duty for the improvement of future generations. Of course by doing my duty as we have said above, not only I have achieved something good for the community at large, and therefore I would feel that my life has been worthwhile living, because I have done something worthwhile during my life; otherwise I would feel that life has passed me by and I have not done anything important, or contributed anything at all for the improvement of humanity and the future generations. For this reason, I believe that our life learning should be passed on for the betterment of all humanity; we have to come back to talk about this duty, after I explain what I believe our other human duty is.

I believe that this post is becoming too long for today average reader, because they seem to like only short articles. So, see you soon in our next post, the other human duty.
